Irreplacable cultural goods

The destruction of irreplacable cultural goods through fire catastrophes could be avoided in many cases. An effective fire detection system makes it possible for the security staff to intervene at an early stage before an incipient fire turns into a catastrophe, and keep the amount of the damage within limits.

Without aesthetic compromises

Nowadays, fire detection systems with aspiration smoke detection systems can be installed practically invisibly, without any aesthetic compromises. When using conventional point detectors, compromises often have to be made with the placing of the detectors so that the detectors do not detract too much from the aesthetics of a room. If point detectors are painted in the same colour as the ceiling, they still remain visible as an alien element, and in the event of a later change of detector, differences in colour between the ceiling and replacement detector are not to be ruled out.

The suction points

Depending on the ceiling construction and whether the aspiration smoke detection
system is installed during a total renovation or in an existing building, the most varied suction points are employed. The variants illustrated are thus only some of the possible examples. Solutions which are aesthetically satisfying and uncompromising from the technical aspect of fire protection can always be found in collaboration with the architect.

In the case of total renovations, the suction tubes can often be installed technically more easily from above into the floor timber construction than from below in the ceiling. The suction tubes can be recessed in a slot from below in panneled wooden ceilings or solid wooden ceilings.

In the case of large columned halls with often unique existing ceiling frescos, no change may be made of course to the ceiling. Such halls are often provided with a cornice all round the wall which can serve as a support for the suction tubes which
are then invisible from below.

Application hint

If concerts, for example, are given in buildings protected with ASD, and sound recordings are to be made, the slight sound of the fan and the flow of air in the ASD may detract from the required absolute quiet. The evaluation unit must therefore be fitted in a location where the sound causes no problems, e.g. in a corridor or in a room in the cellar. By fitting the evaluation unit in a vibration reducing position, if possible on a wall, and by partially enclosing the suction tubes in insulating mats, even slight sounds will be eliminated.
