Great
fire load
High storage warehouses have become generally accepted
as an extremely economic form of storage. Their advantages are savings
in space and clearly arranged, fully automatic storage. On the other hand,
the enormously great concentration of value must be regarded as a risk.
Apart from the structural and organisational measures, the installation
of automatic fire detection systems, fire extinguishing and sprinkler
systems are particularly necessary safety precautions.

Aspiration smoke detection
system with great advantages
– The suction tubes can be integrated into the
shelves in such a way that they hardly protrude. There is thus no risk
of damaging the detectors with warehouse goods when moving goods around.
– Warehouse operation does not have to be interrupted during inspection
work on the fire detector system as the ASD evaluation unit can be installed
outside the danger zone.
– Fire tests have shown the considerably shorter reaction time compared
with point fire detectors.
– Room indicator lamps do not have to be installed on the storage
shelves.
– Using the ASD 515-2 aspiration smoke detection system, mixed equipment
placement with ionisation and optical smoke detectors is possible.
– As the air samples are always taken from several suction points
located above one another, there is a cumulation effect which further
accelerates the speed of detection.

High reliability
– Self-monitoring detectors, therefore no periodical
function checks are required.
– High reliability as the entire tube network is monitored for tube
breakage and blockage by means of a patented air-flow monitoring system.
– ASD 515-2 with one detector for reasonably priced systems; ASD
515-2 with 2 detectors for more ambitious systems.
– Early measures are possible with the ASD 515-2 by means of the
warning signal when 50% of the alarm smoke concentration has been reached.
As aresult, internal alarms can be given long before the fire service
has to be called.
Planning of aspiration smoke detection systems in high
storage warehouses are done in accordance with Euralarm guidelines. In
addition, the Securiton planning guidelines, as well as any regulations
applicable for a country have to be observed.
