Arson and Vandalism In prisons, inmates may try to cause a fire out of desperation or intentionally. They do so in the hope of being transferred to a hospital, from which it can be much easier to escape. People taken into custody and placed in prison cells or those in a psychiatric hospital direct any aggressions not only against the direct environment but, for example, also against visible automatic fire detectors on the ceiling of the room. The consequences are often high repair costs. Sabotage against visible fire detection systems Visible automatic point detectors in the cell or room ceiling are often wilfully sabotaged or damaged. The use of aspiration smoke detection systems has decisive advantages over visible point detectors. Even slightly visible suction points can be sabotaged, for example blocked with chewing gum. Although this is immediately detected by Securiton aspiration smoke detection systems via the air flow monitor, these sabotage attempts give rise to unnecessary trouble which can be avoided if the following points are observed. Invisible fire detection system The solution is an invisibly mounted fire detection system with the Securiton ASD aspiration smoke detection system. The suction points can be concealed so that they are almost invisible. The evaluating processor unit is always located outside the cell or the room, for example in an installation cabinet. The high level of security of the system is a striking feature. Blockage or breakage of the suction pipe is automatically detected and reported. The optical smoke detector is very sensitive to smoke from an actual fire and false alarms cannot be triggered by cigarette smoke.
