ln the specialised area of aircraft docking - accuracy is crucial. DuraVision™ answers the need with a technically innovative aircraft docking guidance mirror (ADGM) boasting unique design features. The design of the ADGM allows safe and accurate docking of aircraft up to the Boeing 777 without selective operation. The DuraVision™ ADGM is one of the most cost efficient methods of visual aircraft docking guidance, while still providing maximum safety. View Slide Show Description of Use Initial outlay
Advantages The DuraVision™ ADGM is a simple, fail-safe system that has gained broad acceptance by pilots experienced with the ADGM. Pilots prefer it as it provides instant visual feedback of the aircraft's position without the need for high tech equipment or support from ground crew. Effective in all flying conditions The DuraVision™ ADGM is effective for all flying conditions. The optional heater prevents the mirror misting or freezing in cold weather and keeps the mirror clear at all times while the natural angle of the ADGM once installed allows rain to run-off. Under ICAO regulations minimum light levels must be maintained around airside structures and the ADGM will operate effectively under all lighting conditions that are appropriate to aircraft movements
Unlike highly computerised systems that can fail without warning the risk of failure or malfunction is virtually nil. As long as the mirror provides an image and is adjusted correctly the ADGM will continue to operate. The ADGM provides a fail-safe, ICAO compliant system for docking aircraft and the accuracy necessary for underground power, fuel connections and boarding bridge alignment with the aircraft is assured. The ADGM high visibility and location on the apron ensures that it is not a safety hazard and will not interfere with ground support equipment and pushback vehicles. Multiple Aircraft Gates A single ADGM can accommodate several aircraft types up to the Boeing 777, on one gate with no adjustment necessary between aircraft. Each type of aircraft has the appropriate stopping line printed on the apron. Simplicity Installation of the mirror is low cost and simple, requiring a single post mounted on the apron, a power source for the misalignment beacon and optional heater while calibration and adjustment is simple and straightforward.
ICAO Compliance The Duravision ADGM is compliant with ICAO International Standards and Recommended Practices, Annex 14, Chapter 5.3.22 and all other pertinent standards. Annex 14 stipulates that during docking a pilot may not move his or her head from the central position. This new regulation (effective 4 November 1999) means that many existing systems (eg. light boxes) in Contracting States to ICAO will be non-compliant on 1 January 2005. Annex 14 also stipulates that the docking system should
have a clear indicator of malfunction, such as our misalignment beacon.
