Ronaldsway Airport Trial

Introduction

Ronaldsway Airport on the Isle of Man is DuraVision's first installation and continues to be in operation today. Isle of Man Airport is located in a very exposed coastal area and experiences extreme weather conditions that have allowed the DuraVisionTM ADGM to prove its durability and effectiveness under all conditions. The Airport has configured the DuraVisionTM ADGM for use with turbo-prop and small passenger jet aircraft.

For this application the ADGM has been centre line mounted and set back near the terminal building. This provides centre line guidance as well as stopping indication. Due to the open layout and size of aircraft employed the centre mounted configuration provides optimum viewing with the pilot having direct vision of the forward area of the aircraft and surrounds. This enhances safety significantly as the pilot maintains direct visual supervision of the aircraft.
